About Us
The Sun Safety Working Group is a partnership of individuals and organizations working together to reduce the impact of solar and artificial ultraviolet (UV) radiation (including indoor tanning equipment) on human health.
Goals
To promote healthful behaviours and policies in relation to ultraviolet radiation exposure and skin cancer prevention in Ontario.
- To raise awareness of the effects of solar and artificial UV radiation on human health
- To advocate for the development of policy to reduce UV radiation exposure.
- To support delivery of a consistent public health approach to skin cancer prevention in Ontario by facilitating networking and knowledge exchange.
Membership
The Working Group will generally be comprised of corresponding members and 10 -15 active members, consisting of individuals and representatives of organizations concerned about the impacts of UV exposure on human health, such as:
- Canadian Cancer Society, Ontario Division (secretariat)
- Cancer Care Ontario
- Canadian Dermatology Association
- Environment Canada, Ontario Region
- Health Canada, Ontario Region
- Ontario Government
- Ontario Public Health Units
- Ontario Skin Cancer Prevention Networks

- Academic Professionals, Researchers and Physicians
- Professional Organizations
